About Abels Law Office

Founder Matthew Abels

Attorney Matthew Abels was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended college at Indiana University in Bloomington and then traveled to Washington D.C. to attend law school at American University. Mr. Abels graduated in the top 1% of his class in law school. He chose to pursue a career in the field of criminal law, despite being offered jobs at prestigious law firms, because he has a passion for practicing criminal defense. Mr. Abels began his career as a prosecutor in Marion County and worked as a deputy prosecutor from 2004 to 2005. He realized during that time that his true passion was defending the rights of those accused and ensuring fairness in a process that is becoming less fair and more results-driven as time goes by.

Many attorneys will take on too many cases and are not able to give each case the necessary time it deserves. At Abels Law Office, I intentionally limit my caseload so that I can devote the attention necessary to ensure a successful result in your case.

Reasonable Fees

Every person accused of a crime not only needs but deserves to have a good lawyer on their side. At Abels Law Office, I understand that sometimes people need a lawyer immediately, but they do not have the money to pay that lawyer in full. I will work with you to come up with payment plans, if necessary, so that you can secure the attorney you need, even if you cannot pay the cost in full upfront. I will also clearly let you know what the fee will be at the beginning of the representation so there are no hidden costs. I charge flat-fee rates so there is no extra cost to you if the case takes more time or court appearances than anticipated.
